Rural Primary Health Services

1

Our congregation is involved in health ministry in rural primary health care services. Through community health programs, our sisters work with village leaders to encourage victims of HIV/Aids to come out for treatment. The sisters run projects that foster awareness about HIV/AIDs in the rural villages and encourage support and acceptance for patients as well as for their families. One of these projects is the Health Service Provider (DHSP)
DHSP receives technical support and also works within the frame work of policy provisions advised by the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) and currently extends services to over 4,000 People living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), about 10,000 Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and over 2500 Care Givers.

The Target groups for DSHP include:
• In-school youths
• Out-of school youths
• Pregnant women
• People living with and affected by HIV/AIDS
• Orphans and vulnerable children
• Married couples
• Widows
